There are not many people in the history of wrestling whose name is as high and as mean (in terms of championship legacy) as that of Triple H. Being a fourteen-time world champion, the Game did not only win titles, he had something to say with each of the wins. Whether they were mythical feuds or crucial spotlights, here they are, the most memorable championship matches ever won by Triple H and the cementing of his legacy as one of the best wrestlers/champions to ever hold a WWE championship belt.
1- Triple H vs. Mankind Raw (1999)
That became the initial victorious performance of Triple H in WWE Championship and was the real beginning of his career of main event. Years later, he overtook the crown by knocking out Mankind the very next day of his being the winner of the SummerSlam.
Not to win, but to proclaim that there was a new era to follow. The Game is not going anywhere.
2️- Sixteen Triple H vs. Backlash 2000 The Rock
It was not a title win but this defense became one of the biggest heated rivalries in WWE history. The McMahon-Helmsley regime supported him, The Rock was shooting for revenge, and Triple H won the dramatic main event to mark the height of the Attitude Era. It was noisy, individual and ever-present.
3- Triple H v Shawn Michaels ( Armageddon 2002):
Triple H took revenge against HBK in a bloody Three Stages of Hell match after the former wrestler took away his World Heavyweight Title at Survivor Series. The title change was not mere another win; this went on to start one of the longest and most successful reigns of his career. This vendetta with Michaels was witness to the ability of Triple H to combine personal narrative with in-ring violence.
4-Triple H vs. Randy Orton – No Mercy (2007):
At No Mercy 2007, Triple H became the first wrestler to win the WWE Title two times during one night. He first defeated Orton to win the gold. Orton later in the night exercised his clause right to a rematch- and Triple H won again in a Last Man Standing Match. It showed that Triple H was as good as anyone could possibly be and prepared to change whenever the limelight could shine the most.
5- Triple H vs John Cena match at Night of Champions (2008)
Why It was Important:
Whenever Triple H and John Cena got into the ring everything was big fight feel, and this promotional match was no different. His triumph against Cena also helped Triple H further cement his control over the middle 2000s and demonstrated that he could still keep up with the new generation of the best wrestlers.
6- Triple H vs. Roman Reigns Royal Rumble (2016)
Triple H surprised the world as he entered the Royal Rumble and dismissed Roman Reigns and became the new king of the WWE titles. Triple H at age 46 managed to demonstrate that he can still be The Game and it made an outstanding storyline with The Authority. It became one of the discusses and shocking Royal Rumble finishes in the contemporary history of WWE.
The Heritage of a Champions:
What makes the WWE championship reigns of Triple H so legendary is not how many they are but rather how they are conducted, how the psychology appeared in each match and the intensity that Triple H has applied. He did not merely bear a title but he raised it up. Each win continued to build the legend that Cerebral Assassin was supposed to be a properly coined term to describe the man who had mastered all the angles, all mind games and all foes in his way.
